Low CostThe main reason driving many businesses into using SIP is COST. As a rough estimate, most businesses stand to reduce their monthly line rental by 30 to 60 percent, by using SIP. The costs of interntional calls and national calls are significantly lower than traditional telecoms providers. And since most business these days have a broadband connections, you have nothing to loose. How do i get SIP for my business? Generally the most popular solution for a business to have SIP, is through their office phone system. Modern Phone Systems all support SIP, and more dated systems may provide upgrades to support it. On a good business phone system, generally users would not be aware at all that it is there. Calls are made and received in the usual way. The only person who should know is your IT administrator AND your accountant who may see significant reductions is telecoms costs. if you have a good broadband connection already, the IT admin/telcoms support will sign you up to a SIP provider and configure the system to use SIP. On a "good Phone Systems" this process can take literally a few minutes. Sounds great, what's the catch? Currently SIP is not 100% reliable. There are 2 reasons for this, SIP service providers are still new and ADSL/SDSL services cannot provide you the reliability of a normal phone line. But this should put you off VOIP. The cost savings possible are very worth while, and if you have a phone system that supports both ISDN and SIP, you won't have a problem - when your VOIP fails, ISDN takes over so you and your customers can stay in contact. |
